For the second part of this series – the first one was on heating – we are having a look at electricity consumption of households and the various ways we can decrease it.
This will enable you to have lower energy bills – always a good thing with the hard times we have – to cut your carbon dioxide emissions and thus enable you to live a more sustainable lifestyle.
From your lightning to the various appliances around you, the opportunities for savings are numerous and this post propose you a selection of three.
First thing first : switch now to energy efficient light bulbs. Between CFLs and the new LED bulbs, you have no more excuses not to do it.
Similarly, if you replace your old fridge or any appliance, choose the most energy efficient ones (A or A+ if you live in European Union, Energy Star for the United States)
Second step : tackle vampire power (or phantom energy). Indeed, each little red light on your TV, DVD player and so on shows that it is still consuming energy.
